From the very first Pilates
class I attended, I started to feel the benefits. Not only was the physical
pain significantly reduced, but also the positive impact on my mental health
was incredible. My daily stresses seemed to disappear and I was happier.
After several years of
struggling with undiagnosed pain in my mid 30’s, I was diagnosed with early-onset
osteoarthritis in the hips. It was in the aftermath of my diagnosis
that I began to appreciate the rehabilitation side of Pilates.
After my first hip
replacement and having seen the benefit of Pilates in my journey back to
fitness I decided to train to be a Pilate’s teacher myself.
It was here that my
passion for movement therapy began. Since my initial training with STOTT
Pilates, my interest has led me to become qualified as a yoga teacher as
well as gaining my qualification in rehabilitation based Pilates with the
internationally recognised leader in that field, Polestar Pilates.
I have also worked for
many years with clients with chronic conditions including; disk pathology,
osteoporosis, and osteoarthritis.
My on-going training,
and experience with arthritis and chronic pain, enables me to offer a unique
blend of movement therapy and a safe exercise class not only for sports people
but also for those suffering from pain or on going medical conditions.
